Ok so sorted the leak out and no pressure drop after couple of hours then the nightmare started mixed up the resin 3kg mix

Started the infuse started really well then stopped flowing as quick where the resin enters there was a big puddle of resin like it wasn't being pulled through the part for some reason

The hoses from pump to catch pot ect seemed collapsed so clamped the bag off put new lines on and it started pulling the resin through again but by this point it had started to gel so wouldn't finish infusing the part not a clue what happened as I did everything by the book

So one BIG FAIL 😢

Just ironing out the kinks mate, happens to everyone when they first start infusing. Keep at it, you'll get it sorted.

Sounds like you used some cheap hose that couldn't take the vacuum. You need some fairly rigid stuff, so if you can squeeze it closed with your fingers then I'd suggest finding something else.

I used the hose that comes with the infusion starter kit, which other hose would you recommend?

I see. Well in that case, I'd probably get in contact with the guys at EC, as their stuff definitely shouldn't collapse under vacuum.

I thought that, I now think it was definitely down to collapsed pipes as soon as I changed them it progressed again but was to late to fully infuse as it was gelling over night it got a little further but there's still a patch it didn't get to,

I have used the EC clear hose many times and the only time it has collapsed is when its been too warm IE if you have a blower heater etc directed at the hose, when your infusing large parts you can mix your resin in smaller batches and use a slow resin. You will need another pump and a degas chamber to use this method.

I mixed the resin with slow hardner, I didn't have any blow heaters on it was done in the house, the places where it had collapsed were at the barb on the pump, where it entered the catch pot and where I'd previously had it clamped for drop test

OK so that's a slightly different issue and can happen with this type of hose, when you have started to infuse slacken off the clamp and turn it 90 degrees at the same point and tighten it up slightly and this will open the pipe up again. This only seems to happen when the clamp has been in place for a number of hours.

I did try that putting the clamp back on and trying to squash the pipe back the other way, I think if I'd of changed the pipes sooner it would of all gone ok,
What would of caused the swamp of resin around the entry point there was that much resin that the bag went saggy, but once I changed the pipes it started to draw it out and tighten the bag again,

Bags been fine over night no pressure drop just a shame the whole part didn't infuse

Was your resin feed pot positioned below the part? If it was higher the liquid resin could siphon which might explain the extra resin around the inlet.
