Great work Andy. Fantastic example of what can be achieved with a HUGE amount of time and effort (and expense
)
Your not a GC50 convert yet then?

Little update.
With some advise from Paul etc at easycomposits on how to make a proper over along with buying all the parts he recommended I decided due to lazyness to ignore it and make a pathetic oven that consisted of 100mm kingspan on 3 sides and top of the tub and then point my very powerful space heater into the over (but not directly spat the part).... Managed to get it to a constant 60+ degc for over 6 hrs and it came out the mould better than any other large part I have made... I'm definatelly sold on doing a proper post cure.
Dispite having a bad vacume the part has ended up much better than I hoped (Warren will say as usual lol) so I am currently ecstatic... Weighs 16kgs and I can stand on the roof, v weave is as close to perfect you can realistically get without using pre prg. Side weave matches the doors and I only have a couple of small voids in non visible areas to deal with.
Basically hardest part now is going to be removing the glue I use to stick the top weave layer to the mould.
Anyhow pics

As always Andy, still awesome. Even with the problems that you experienced.
For the vacuum sealing issue on large parts, what mil bag are you using?
I recently switched to 4 mil bags for large parts and finally I have been able to get a good seal with the vacuum tape. The thicker bag doesn't crease as much so I can really get a good seal. Perhaps, this might help your issue.

Hi Matt
Must admit I don't really know how much materials I use as I don't monitor it and just buy more as I run out :-)
The moulds just go in storage

could you give me an idea on how much layers of fiberglass and g/m2 you've used to reinforce the mould with the tooling resin... just to get an idea

Love this.
What do you do with your moulds after you're done with them Andy? I can't bring myself to make my bonnet, boot and fenders because I don't know where I would store the moulds afterwards!

Very nice work! You must have constantly been mixing resin with a feed cup that small!

Ok, so I was working overseas for 6 weeks in jan/feb so have only just managed to make some progress on this.
Basically I had a cheap paint job done on the original Tub and lacquered the roof myself in the garage... the mould came off the roof perfectly and easily, however the bits Id had painted all reacted and stuck itself to the mould and was a nightmare to remove and took me around 40hrs to clean it up ready for a pull... not good.
Anyhow I laid the materials over the last week in evenings and bagged it over the weekend and finally pulled resin last night... as usual all didn't go to plan, i decided at the last minute to change my material lay up, ran out of materials etc etc.
I envalope bagged the part, used 10 metres of bagging material as the bag was 5mx3m.... was fun trying to get a decent seal, I wasn't as successful as I wanted, but better than I expected, however it wasn't a total seal so I will have to wait to see how the part turns out
Anyhow pics.
