so I managed to finish the Tub and chuck it all back together in time for a track day last Monday at silverstone.... ironically haven't managed to take a single photo of my own so only have the official trackside ones....

I fitted brand new fuel pumps during the rebuild and unfortunately one failed on route to track so my fuel pressure was unable to cope with any throttle at all before the ecu cut everything so I never managed to properly run it... lots of jobs to do to finish off like proper paint job, interior etc etc but pretty pleased with it as its now full carbon.

A few phrases came to mind when seeing those last pics: "bowing down," " I'm saving these pics," and "Andy, you need your own shop!" Stunned and amazed. Your work is truly an inspiration.

Thanks Matt... I genuinely have your advice and support as well as your products to thanks for me being able to achieve this...

I picked the tub up from the paint shop last night, as I mentioned before I had a leak on the bag so the surface had a lot of pinholes... I gave them instructions to give it 2 coats over 2 days with a flat back in between as I was on a tight deadline and did not have time for them to keep painting till it was perfect. So it will need to go back to the paint shop in a month or so once its assembled for a few final coats of lacquer to get it to a finish I will be happy with.

Anyhow here are some pictures.

Inspiring stuff as ever Andy. Thank you so much for posting your progress on the forum, it's a real world example of what can be acheived if you're determined enough. Sure not everything goes perfectly to plan but I like to think that between us we find a way through each time and the results are stunning.

Paul, me or both of us would definately like to take a run over and film some sort of segment on the project as it nears completion. Really, I'd like to take lots of shots but Staffs to Suffolk is a fair run so it might have to wait until the end.

I'm sure we'll talk again very soon!

Ok cheers Warren, in that case I have tried GC50 and have some on the shelf.... the reason I don't use that on larger parts at all is that if you have an issue then its scrap as you see the air / pinholes trapped behind the gel coat which is impossible to rectify.

My tub has pinholes because the back wasn't full vacuum, however this is being rectified when its lacquered.... Its at the paint shop as I type and hopefully I should get it back tomorrow and will post more pics then.

Looking fantastic as usual Andy! Despite the worries it's turned out great!

GC50 is an epoxy compatible polyester clear gelcoat which is ideal when sprayed onto the mould surface, especially if planning on infusion.
