I bought six meters of CF and two liters of resin.

I think I ended up using almost 5 meters of CF and I don't know exactly how much resin, but the two liters was used up, but naturally everything isn't on the bike, but a lot is in the dustbin Smile

The frame's weight is around 1700 and that is too me a bit much, but ok for the first frame Smile

Hi Brummelisa

That really impressive ! BTW how would such a frame cost in raw mat (fiber and epoxy) ? I guess this is nothing compare to the time you took to build this though.

Hi,

I have finally finished my frame.
I copied a Cervelo P5 (I took a photo and used it as a measurement).

It took three months (don't know exact how many hours I put into it).

Anyway, here are the photos of it...

The word LELLOU and BOBBO is my nickname for my two children.

Not much room between the wheel and the frame Smile

The image above is of my two kids (the image is under the clear-coat and it's a bit fuzzy here, but the image is this one:

And the wheel is tight here too...

The part above (right where the wheel is fastened) has 40 layers of CF. It's 8 mm thick and it was a pain in the a... to saw through it.

Thanks Joe. It is a pretty thing. The learning curve to make it was interesting too. The final job took about three hours to do 90% of the hogging - and 18 hours on the finish cut !

Here's a better view of the whole thing.

Wow, Steve, thats quite a great project. The telescope itself looks great.

And, also being a machinist (not on cnc, sadly), I cant stop staring at your polished mold. Something I could hang on my wall above my fireplace just because its way more beautiful than a Picasso to me Wink

Here's a special telescope body I've made in CF, with Paul's help.

It's made by PRESSURE bagging, not vacuum bagging, to get perfect shapes for further engineering. The ends and all the internals are milled in billet aluminium and anodised.

Here's the mould just after being machined on my CNC mill

And one of the finished mould halves.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-M1DlsCiVYbo/Te5vrK7U8KI/AAAAAAAABGk/RwW2SsLH2CE/s400/IMAG0161.jpg

The process is to lay up a pretty layer of fine CF in each half, and trim to a perfect fit (Note to self:avoid thumb next time)

Then a layer of coarser material is added, which will stick out by ~2 cm from the left hand side of one mould half, and the right hand of the other.  The two halves are clamped together and a bag made of bag film, inserted from one end. Then a pressure of 80PSI is injected, and the whole thing ovened at 80 C for 8 hours.

This is a picture of the "next gen", where we added lands to the body for the tripod mount and a sight.

I'd like to say  here just how much easycomposites have helped us during the prototyping stages of this project. I can't praise Paul and his team highly enough. They couldn't have been more helpful.
