Not really, once you add up the cost of the extra resin, lay up time and very slow infusion with the thicker E Glass panel that would be needed to match the 2mm carbon then it kinda starts to become a bit of a false economy. And to be honest once you start to go 3mm or 4mm thicknesses with E Glass then other materials like MDF, DiBond and Perspex would be just a suitable and even more cost effective for a basic coffee table. Yet with the 2mm carbon I have managed to get the table to come in at less than 6KG and loaded an even load of over 130kg on top of it, the carbon is worth the bit extra I think...
