Can I make a mold off of a lacquer primered part?

Group: Forum Members Posts: 8, Visits: 128	Hello, I am just starting out making a carbon fiber front end for a 1965 El Camino and want to start by making the mold for the hood and wonder if lacquer primer would be good enough finnish if it would polish good enough to help prevent the mold from sticking to harshly or what would be the best coating to use? Group: Forum Members Posts: 468, Visits: 3.5K	Some primers work and some can stick really bad. Primers are after all designed for good adhesion to the top coats. It's certainly a nice way to go when you can just sand a primer nice and smooth or even polish it a bit, then polish your mould further when done. But you should just do your own small test sample with the primer and exact release system/technique etc to know for sure if it releases ok. Fastacraft Facebook page
