How many layers to do a roof?

Group: Forum Members Posts: 42, Visits: 350	Hi, I need to do a CF roof to a Civic, but I do not know how many layers have to be applied. In the car, it will be mounted a rollbar, so I think that the roof does not need to be very strong. Pedro

Group: Forum Members Posts: 468, Visits: 2.7K	I've just done a roof. Mine is 2x200g/3mm PVC foam core/2x200g. Its not absolutely rigid but its still pretty dam close. I'd expect that something bonded around its entire perimiter would be fine in this layup.

Hi I don't claim that pvc is worse but I prefer soric because it is like fabric and pvc foam is... foam, and on flat, not demanding surface like dashboard switch pannel foam is better, but I wouldn't use foam while doing hood or roof. But this is only my opinion ~~~Everytime I hear sound of demoulding part I have eargasm~~~

Group: Forum Members Posts: 468, Visits: 2.7K	Ah yes, thats a fair point raised there! I had to slot the foam for the areas where the curvature was greater. 3D core or soric would be easier for that.
