Hi,
I need
to do
a CF roof
to a
Civic
,
but I
do not know
how many
layers
have to
be applied
.
In the car
,
it will be
mounted a
rollbar
,
so I think
that the roof
does not need to
be very strong
.
Pedro

Is it for completion or road use?

I've just done a roof. Mine is 2x200g/3mm PVC foam core/2x200g. Its not absolutely rigid but its still pretty dam close. I'd expect that something bonded around its entire perimiter would be fine in this layup.

Instead of foam core you better use soric 3mm, it will be a little bit better for use,

Thats interesting as I favour foam over soric. I guess personal preference plays its part. 3D core is also pretty good.

Hi
I don't claim that pvc is worse but I prefer soric because it is like fabric and pvc foam is... foam, and on flat, not demanding surface like dashboard switch pannel foam is better, but I wouldn't use foam while doing hood or roof. But this is only my opinion

Ah yes, thats a fair point raised there! I had to slot the foam for the areas where the curvature was greater. 3D core or soric would be easier for that.
