Hi guys!
I'm beginner laminator so I will be appretiate you for you help.

I have a round shaped mold. There is common 2 plies of 200 g 4H satin carbon fabric and extra 4 plies on the other area (support area).
I have no idea how to impregnate this one by minimal quantity of resin. I guess I need at least two points of resin feed. One of this needed to be in the geometrical center of support area.
Thanks
Buchado

Hi Bob,

the situation isn't clear to me, I can't understand the shape of your mold and where you must put carbon and resin.
Can you elaborate it a little better? Maybe some picture of the mold.

Hi

In fact my part is oval shaped as I've drawn above (not round shaped)

It's a flat part as well but has two plies on the whole area of the part and extra four plies on the area that I've drawn above.

I don't know how to do infusion: where to locate feed line, quantity and where to locate vacuum

if the laminate has one thickness - it's ok, I understand, but how to do infusion if you have two areas with two different thickness

I may not be understanding right but my suggestions would be to place the feed line over (or along the edge if you're worried about printing - or pull the spiral wrap up in a pleat before it gels) the thicker area and feed out to a vacuum perimeter on the other side.  You'll want to put a vacuum break between the edge of the fiber and the spiral wrap or whatever you use for the vacuum side manifold.  This keeps the resin from just running into the hose/catch pot before filling the part.  You're using surface flow?  Here's a picture:

Looks like very simple shape and laminate.

Is this a cosmetic type part that really needs infusion for a great finish?

You could also consider just a wet layup with vacuum bagging using perf film and breather etc as this will be much easier for a beginner than the infusion, would still have good resin ration but may not be the 100% cosmetic finish you want?
