Ok here is a question, I would like to know if it is possible to lay (4) small molds is a casting box, using the resin infusion process for a parts run, end result (4) parts ready for finishing.

Now take in consideration that everything is done properly, gel coating, bagging, correct amount of resin etc.

could you elaborate please.

If my opinion is worth anything I'd say you sure could. Just need to get a few of those resin injection rubber grommets and make a make a equal amount of resin flow tube to each part, "branch it out”.

I had thought about this but decided against it, though about making a 4 partmould of the same part "small". it’s just more risk for not much reason. Why not just make 4 molds instead of one big one? that way if you break the mould your only down 1 not all 4. also if something goes wrong you need to abort mission on all with a single mold.

Plus getting the bagging material to lay on 4 could end up being a challenge for me!

Agree with Carbon Tuner, I would make 4 molds rather than one. Especially if your parts are "deep", i would say making the bagging material conform to all curves would be tricky.

The downside of 4 molds would be the boring setup to do if you want to infuse all molds in once. Its 4 times the preparation time.

Cheers.

Welll, yea I forgot if you were doing a shallow part then you could get away with it. I don’t think 4 molds would be quite 4 times the prep work, but it would make sealing up the mold a bit more of a pain and you would have to run a set of lines on each.
The rest of the stuff you gotta do 4 times regardless how many molds you use.

Yeah I think this is one of those things that could work-out to be a real time-saver or a total inconvience depending on the type of parts you are making... I agree with the other guys, if the parts are fairly simple and flat running a few together could work out really well, otherwise bagging it might be pretty tough!

Well it would work great, once the process is worked out. I was thinking to use "T" valves with plastic tubing as a bridge before connecting the spiral tube so that I will have minimal loss of resin flowing everywhere.
I would also have to figure a way to prime the system (branched tubing) in order to get an even flow of resin
to the (4) molds........

The parts that I am thinking about are simple upgrades to exsisting parts also adding some appeal. Both racers and street riders will find them practical, useful and save cost. I am also thinking ahead in case I get overwhelming request for these parts......I will be the first to "RD" them in the real world application...........

When the first one is finished I am going to post a pic, for all to see............Smile Whistling

Here's another question, Why would I have to bag each part individually?

Since all (4) molds will be in a casting box, with the appropriate spacing one to another, how come I cannot use one bag, provided it is bagged so that it will fit in the corners etc...and all of the other neccesary components in place....in theory it  looks like it would work....
