If your budget allows get yourself a Dremel and some slitting disks. If not a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade or a hacksaw will all work well. Just put some masking tape along the cut line. Standard metal working files, a sanding block and wet and dry will finish edges nicely. If drilling holes etc use masking tape again and support the back of the part on a block of wood if possible to reduce break out, or if you can clamp the part between two pieces of wood and drill through the whole stack.
