I find anything diamond coated to be good.  For example, I picked up a set of diamond coated files from TK Maxx for 6 quid and they're great!  The only downside with regular metalworking tools is that they blunt off quite quickly with composites.  I knackered a few bandsaw blades this way before buying diamond coated cutting discs (silverline ones from ebay, cut quicker than the permagrit one I have!!).

You far better with air tools when working with carbon, as it's easy to blow I things like seemed when they get filled up with carbon dust.

I like using carbide Burrs with a rough chip breaker type cut.

Thanks Warren. I have a Dremel and Permagrit cutting wheel - it goes through my laminate like a blowtorch through butter (well nearly). It's just finishing work really - so I'll get the metal working kit as advised.

If your budget allows get yourself a Dremel and some slitting disks. If not a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade or a hacksaw will all work well. Just put some masking tape along the cut line. Standard metal working files, a sanding block and wet and dry will finish edges nicely. If drilling holes etc use masking tape again and support the back of the part on a block of wood if possible to reduce break out, or if you can clamp the part between two pieces of wood and drill through the whole stack.
