Kylle, I use 2k automotive clearcoat sprayed through an HVLP gun.
Recently though I've been ordering it in a premix system. There's a company in the UK who do an aerosol can with an inbuilt catalyst. You pop a button on the base of the can, shake and then lay the paint down. Obviously once the can is activated you've got to use it all within about a couple of hours, and they aren't cheap.

But tbh it's often better for me than getting all the compressor and paint equipment out and clearing the garage to spray HVLP.
Finish is good, I usually end up having to cut back with wet and dry and power buff up to a high sheen. It's not really possible to lay it down perfectly like you can with a gun (unless maybe if you're more talented than me
).
When carbon skinning I did use to get several layers of epoxy down, so that in the end I was sanding and buffing epoxy directly. But I found that even if you sand through to the carbon by accident, or only use a layer or two of epxoy over the cloth, or don't cut to like 1500 grit, if you lay down 2k clearcoat you get an excellent finish (as long as everything is flat).

First thing I skinned, ZX10r hugger (lessons learned!)...this is polished before clearcoat.
Then decided to do a full set of panels for a chap I know from a bike forum. A lot of issues to work out!
And the finished bike...
Now focusing back on carbon, skinning is way time consuming and messy!
