Hi Warren

Either way is fine, off to Mallory park tomorrow being spanner man for a good friend helping to look after 2 race bikes Smile and will be in touch to arrange time to meet up.

Chris

ps below is an image of i mould i have made for a race fairing, do you think infusion would work ? as you can see it has a lower section that runs close to the front wheel and this is a narrow fairing.

Hard to tell properly from the pic but I would split the mould (you may be doing that anyway?) add some flanges and Infuse the two halves.

Hi Warren

I was trying to keep the mould in one piece, i used easy lease on the original fairing and it was quite easy to remove it from the mould. I will shortly be making a fuel tank so may try infusion on that project instead of the fairing and i can make the moulds to suit the process.

Pretty sure once you get to grips with infusion you will forget the wet lay.Smile Excuse my ignorance but how do you fit the fairing to the bike if its in one piece?

My guess is there is a front nose section too.

That's looking good Chris, is it classics racing at the weekend?

Hi Warren

The fairing for this bike is actually a two piece, one small upper section and a large lower section. It is for the bike in the image bellow that will be raced in the UK this year in the classic 50cc championship.

 Hi Chris

Yes i have already made the top section in carbon , 160 grams Smile i have another four weeks before the first meeting, i am sponsoring a rider this year by supplying a bike plus fuel etc and of course i look after the bike, it revs to 16,000 so the crank re builds will keep me busy. The bike is very lite as i have used Titanium fasteners, had an alloy radiator made and i use narrow section tyres, the carbon will take it to the next level and i will also fit a Li Po battery instead of lead acid.

I still can't see how you fit it with the front wheel/forks fitted. Or am I missing something?Smile

Hi Warren

You slide the lower section under the bike from either side the lift up into place and fit the six Dzus fasteners.

I will have to take your word for it Ha Ha or this could go on for everBigGrin But I still can't see how there can be enough room (unless you lay the bike on its side) to get the lower section on in one piece. Perhaps that's why I only raced things with four wheelsSmile
