Gabber, do you have smoe pictures of the set-up before infusion? quit curious about how the spiral is layed around then

this is a carbon fibre mold made with resin infusion. If you look around you see the vacuum spiral

Thanks again,
Can the feed spiral can be placed in the middle of the tool and stil spread the resin
as long as there is a dist-mesh with vacuum on either side?

So the resin does not flow, or very little beyond/outside the dist-mesh?
Do you get any resin on the back of the mold?

I just checked your site Petter, awesome work on the Cagiva Raptor. I used to race motorcycles too (French championship, trained 3 weeks with Kenny Roberts in Spain etc...) and although my sculptures are usually pure art rather than functional art, I've been flirting with the idea of building motorcycles.. Cheers from France.

Subscribed to your RSS.
Symmetry is such a pain when it comes to modeling. Very few tutorials or books etc on the subject.
Nice work.

I place the spiral in the midlle of the tool, and I infuse like the picture.
Resin flow a little outside the mesh, for my esperience about 3/4 cm, so I cut mesh smaller than the fiber.
I never had problems infusing like this.
On the back of the mold there is a little resin, but if you places well the bag, it's acceptable.

you can help the resin flow on the edges with a heat gun...or put before your mold in the oven, or make a heated mold. I'm trying now a heated mold with RTMLight
