2 moulds is fine - plenty are made that way.  A lot also use a foam core with the carbon wrapped around the foam core and the surface resin coated and sealed to give a good finish. So it is down to personal choice what you feel is going to be best for you.

Hi Warren, thank you for the advice. The issue that I have with a foam core is accuracy, ie getting the core to the right size and shape to take the carbon wrap and end up with an exact copy. Is there an easy step that I am missing? For that reason making it like a razor clam and gluing the 2 halves together sounds to me like a better way to go. I am also thinks of putting in tin carbon sheet like a slice of ham in a sandwich as it were. Is there a trick to ensure that the moulds line up perfectly when gluing the 2 peices together please? You make the moulds in one shot. Make one half, let it cure, release agent the flange, make the other.  They will line up perfectly then.  You can even make registration dots on the flange so it aligns perfectly every time.  Then you can bolt the 2 halves together when the time comes.
