I am infusing ly556  resin and hy951 hardener with glass fibres to produce laminates of size 300mmx 150mm with 2 mm thickness. problem is as soon i open the resin line for infusion, resin accumulates around the line ad leaks out between bagging tape and vacuum bag. please help to resolve this problem

This is very strange, as the pressure inside the bag during infusion should be lower than the atmospheric pressure. So the resin should not have any reason to flow out. Instead air should leak in. So I guess there are some problems with your setup

I assume you are heating the resin? As ly556 is a hot processing resin with high viscosity at room temperature? Are you heating the mould too? If not, are you shure, the tacky take can handle the temperature?

That would be my guess too Oekmont.  Also if the tape is for some reason under sheer under tension, then when many tapes warm up, they may soften slightly.  Obviously this is not a problem normally but when under a bit of sheer loading it can pull the tape away from where it is supposed to be.

Thank you Oekmont and Warren for the reply. As suggested in datasheet of LY556 i heat only the resin mix to 40degree before infusing so as to reduce the viscosity. So tacky tape is not at all in contact with this. Please see the picture marked for the region where resin leaks. Resin though flows forward,  at a point of time  leakage ruins the part resulting in laminates as shown in the picture. Please suggest how to overcome this

Could it be, that the bag is just damaged by the stretched spiral? Spirals usually have quite sharp edges. Some vacuum bagging films can easily be damaged by these.
try to simply plug the resin hose into one end of the spiral. This perpendicular connection isn't nearly as smart as it seems at first glance. The resin flows so much faster through the spiral than through the flow mesh, that the resin front isn't affected much by the asymmetric setup.

Hi Oekmont,
The sharp edges of the spirals were taped with tacky tape to avoid any damage to the bag. Also i have tried inserting resin feed line into one end of the spiral. the result is still same problem. Is it that resin velocity is to be controlled?

I will try your suggestion and let you know the results
