I have successfully infused a 2-meter hull using Lantor Soric and no infusion mesh. It worked perfectly and I am pleased with the result. I have made a video of the whole process:

Hanaldo:
Your setup was no quite fair. You didn't place the feed line at the edge of the soric, you placed it far away from it, creating a resin break in form of a few cm pure glass cloth. Mat placed the resin line right at the soric core. The question is, what went wrong with his experiment. Well, he used sf instead of lrc. But if I remembered correctly, they were pretty close in terms of flow performance. Maybe I'll do an experiment on Monday, to solve the on top/at the edge discussion.
I never compared  every flow media /no flow media in a single experiment. I just made some samples one by one, and the soric ones took very long.

My interpretation:
-flow mesh is by far the fastest way to get it done
-it doesn't matter what is under the flow mesh, soric doesn't do any extra flow support.
-coremat doesn't do any better than no core at all
-soric and 3d pet core perform significantly better than the no core reference
-The thicker soric performed better than the thinner one
-3d pet core performed even better
-the gaps around the cores performed best

My setup:
-2 Layers of 160g twill glass. Keep in mind, that this will likely have a higher flow resistance than 1 layer of 240g twill carbon, due to it's finer weave. Nur mit that mich, that oh really matters Herr.
-On top of that stripes (12cm wide) of lantor coremat, soric lrc 1,5mm and 3mm and 3d pet core 3mm, as well as a 12cm stripe without a sandwich core
-2 layers of 160g twill glass
-peel ply
-flow Media (a heavy one) over one half
-a spiral tube along the middle. Placed on top of the stack
-bagging film, placed without wrinkles, as they can be an even faster flow path than flow mesh
-glass plate heated to 30°c
-resin: up textiles standard infusion resin, medium hardener, heated to 30°c

Hey Martin, where can I get those clamps?

Hey John,

Well I actually got these ones from Easy Composites, but I've since found them locally in Supercheap:

When you get a chance, I'd be interested to know what you changed in your test, Oekmont?

This is my little experiment. Forgive the video quality, my filmography skills aren't up to Mat's level!

Fairly obvious, but to be clear: The stack on the left is with the resin inlet directly on top of the Soric, the one in the middle is with the inlet in front of the Soric, and the stack on the right is with 3D PET core. The 3D PET core stack should have been the same size to be worth noting, but I didn't have any similar sized off-cuts, so really it is only worth looking at to note how it works having flow mesh on the edge of the core just to initiate the resin flow. Another point worth making is that usually I would use a silicone through-bag connector rather than just having the hose through the bagging tape, as this causes bridging around the hose which is why the resin tracked backwards so quickly on the first stack.

Layup is as I mentioned above and is the same for each panel, 450g biaxial fibreglass > core > 450g biaxial fibreglass.

Ok, finished with experiments. I'll come up with details later. First I need to do some actual work. But I have to admit: hanaldo was right. Soric is a reasonable good flow media.
