Loved every minutes of the roadtrip, I would like to do a simular thing around the costline of Scotland and Ireland but not at the same time Wink

I have thought about chucking the reverse gearbox but I use it every time I go out for a drive. And i'm going of the idea of going racing just fancy setting the car up for a very lightweight 50/50 road/race setup that is a little more comfy for touring? maybe a carbon fibre cup holder, ash tray, and doors and a roof, then just do the local drag races for a little test n tune.

"I've not been doing any carbon work either. I bought a Porsche 911" is there a hidden message in here Wink

You seem to be making things very difficult for yourself when you bag up

Put the sealing tape on the bag before you put the part in,open the bag up and press the tape onto the bag laying nice flat an smooth on the table

tape right on the edge of the bag and use the edge as a guide,lot earier when you came to seal an you can see the join right on the edge of the job and not having 6" of bag in the way

Thank you very much for the advice!

This is the first time I have done an envelope bag and I did think that I should have sealed up one side before, but given your suggestion I will be laying the tape up first on both sides of the vacuum bag, this is exactly why I put these videos out there as I know the process can be streamlined and there so many helpfull people!
And sometimes I do wear my clownshoes Wink

The vaccuum pump's motor is in need of some inspections the commutator and brushes, I would imagine are in need of some cleaning maybe some lathe time Wink
One thing I noticed with the larger pump is that the coupler between the motor and vaccum pump body are very tight even when the bodies are gently snugged together and on mine causes excessive friction that causes the motor to torque stall, It was fine when the motor was new and fresh but after a two/three years of use in the dusty garage the motor is now struggling and is need of some love ...


Not the most exciting video in the world, but to did involve an air wedge and the spinning wheel of death, due to some bleed over but the product was fine.

Hi all

I am after some advice, you can see the bleed over in the video above ^ ^ where some resin escaped to the backside into some of the breather cloth ..

This was my first attempt at an
envelope bag with one of my first ever moulds that has tiny little flanges what was I thinking ?
I used some breather cloth on the back to stop any sharpe edges from the mould peircing the vacuum bag, I use some tape to hold down the breather cloth and some tape to hold down the carbon on the other side with some tape crossing over the edge and I had some resin bleed over to the back side not much but enough to make it abit of a pain to clean it off the backside of the mould. I was wondering if anyone has any advice to stop the bleeding onto the backside of the mould from creases in the vacuum bag, I used normal clear tape and some gaffer tape if that makes a difference ?


I was thinking about just keeping the rear breath cloth away from the edge leaving a 20mm ish gap from the edge, as looking back at it the rear cloth was far to close to the edge Hehe

Only three or four more clear coats to go Smile


Original injection moulded body was 270 grams and new carbon part is 120 grams a total weight saving in total of 300 grams Smile
