Hi guys, was browsing the net looking for some information on this and that. Came across the composites central forum and read a post regarding the EC video on perfect resin infusion and the ensuing discussion.

http://www.compositescentral.com/showthread.php?t=5092

They question some of the methods in the video, some say to leave the pump running til gelation/cure, others dont.

Care to take a read of the short thread and give some feedback?

It has definitely caused me some confusion.

Cheers

Hi Matt,

Yes absolutely! clears it up for me thanks alot. I have no doubt you guys have the experience, thats what I posted there as well, as well as explaining your method to those who were confused. I would like my parts cosmetically perfect and thus have been pretty much solely following your instructions.

I was skeptical about the fact that some people like to leave the pump on for several reasons, main one being that too much resin will be drawn out, but theres no danger of pulling all of it (or much more than intended) out? I thought that if you pull too much the structural integrity will be compromised. May sound silly, but as said I'm new to this.

In my other post in the vacuum infusion starter kit section it becomes apparent that I'm new, yet have learnt very well what my mistakes were and will not be repeating them. Learning by doing so to speak.

My part consumed a lot of resin, due to the bridging of the carbon itself. I was initially under the impression that the fabric conforms to the surface of the mould. After experiencing the contrary and thinking it over that the vacuum pressure is uniform, I now know that it does not.

Warren posted that you will be stocking some sort of tack in near future, when will it be available? Could you give me some tips on how to place the fiber into my rather complex mould? gelcoat with some sort of activator, or something like 3M spray glue? I feel a bit clueless. I have been doing research on this matter, thats how I came across the other forum. Yet it has a lot of contradictory information.

Upon checking the website I see they offer a repositionable adhesive spray, 3M 75 industrial. I'm guessing something like that is what I'm looking for.

Thanks alot,

Fabian
