Looking good!  Diolen will add some impact resistance.   The team at EC experimented with using a foam core on car cycle wings and reckoned it would prevent any "star crazing" on the visible surface from stone strikes.

You could also fabricate wheel arch liners from a kevlar weave using the flexible resin so it curves to arches and absorbs impact.

Have you thought about using a closed cell foam or soric core in places to add rigidity?

this is one of the few videos I have... not very good I admit.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_ltQiy8nII

After some remedial work on the mould at the weekend I started laying up the carbon last night, going to build it up in payers, first layer is going down with the mould in parts so that I can ensure a good weave and that I get precisily into the hard to access areas. Of cause I will be overlapping on all the remaining areas so that there are no weak points.

1 layer 200g pro finish carbon... in areas I will have exposed carbon (mostly it will be painted)
1 layer 200g carbon
1 layer Nomex
1 layer 200g-650g carbon

I will be backing this up with extra carbon in areas were the rear spoiler mounts and mounting points along with Dionen (?) in the wheel arches to give some impact protection.

My noble has well over 600bhp... soon to be over 700bhp... it weights 1110kgs full of fuel (hoping to reduce that 50kgs)  and is pretty nippy.

The GTT is my name for the car i have designed and built from scratch... its not finished and the work on the noble is kind of R&D for me on that Smile

Pulled the mould from the buck tonight, please to say it came apart without issue Smile

Will check on the spray glue I used... it did leave some residue on the surface but easily came off and I did lay the glue on a bit thick in places.

Hi,

I use polyester filler (2pack) as the coat on which the mold is built. It can be polished to a high shine, and I never had a "sticker". I also used it with Unimold system, and its proven to work perfect (I use 6 coats of wax, no easy-lease, no pva).

So I'm with Ragece for the polyester paint. Much more thin, perfect for molding an existing part.

From my experience, I would highly recommend a test panel before you proceed to your final part when you get new products. Chemistry is sometimes a bi***. I know it's one lost day of testing but it can make the rest of the week go better Wink

I got a question about your part: saw you used spray glue to tack the fabric to the mold. It may not be clear in the pic so: does your part have cosmetic "residues" from the glue? And if not, would you share the brand and type of glue.

Thanks, and keep us posted with your new parts Wink
