Infusion on old mold without flanges

Group: Forum Members Posts: 112, Visits: 1K	Hi all I plan to start with infusion now and one part I want to do has a mold that I did some years ago when I only did wet layup, it has almost no flanges. So I have to use an envelope bag, but is that possible with infusion? Or will the resin go around the whole mold? http://motoform.blogspot.se

Group: Forum Members Posts: 41, Visits: 646	matthieutje65 (17/01/2013) and how do you place your vacuum spiral tube and put the resin inlet? you place vacuum spiral tube into the bag all around the mold, no problem if it isn't fixed with the mold. I did many times like this

So the resin does not flow, or very little beyond/outside the dist-mesh? Do you get any resin on the back of the mold? I place the spiral in the midlle of the tool, and I infuse like the picture. Resin flow a little outside the mesh, for my esperience about 3/4 cm, so I cut mesh smaller than the fiber. I never had problems infusing like this. On the back of the mold there is a little resin, but if you places well the bag, it's acceptable.

sounds quit difficult to do infusion without flanges... normaly you use your flanges for resin inlet...

well, it has flanges but they are 15mm wide and have a very uneven surface, so it is not possible...
