Im getting minor bridging around the base of the raised areas (see pic) 

Do any of you guys think it is possible to get everything down into the tight corner?

It could be done without cutting the fabric, but the fibre alignment would look nicer if you cut out the bumps and cover them with small circular pieces. That way, it would be much easier to avoid bridging. The part seems to be quite flat. So it should be easy to make a template for the cut offs. Spray tack a second layer to the first one, before you cut the holes to avoid fraying.
