Loads of bridging and potentially a bit of a mould stick too.

I would agree. It is a difficult part to do initially.

The key is getting the air out and also the fibres seated in all the corners.  A bristle roller is a great product to help get air out when wet laying parts as the bristles get between the fibres and help lift out trapped bubbles underneath.

In terms of avoiding bridging, when your first gelcoat layer of resin is in the mould, allow it to part cure until firm but tacky. At this stage the fabric should stick quite well. You can then concentrate on putting down the fabric properly into all the recesses and dips.  As its an awkward shape, I would then allow another couple of hours for the resin to go off a bit more, firmly bonding the fabric in place even more, before moving onto laying down more resin and subsequent layers of cloth.

You need to cut the fabric into smaller pieces and as above make sure the material is placed into the tight corners as well as you can to avoid bridging

Did you coat the mould and then leave the resin to firm up for 2 or 3 hours? That first coat of resin should go tacky enough that you can leave a fingerprint in it, but not have anything come off on your finger. This will then be firm enough to hold the fibres in place as you place them in the mould.

Then as Warren said, don't wet out the fibres straight away. Leave it for another 2 hours or so. If you apply resin too early, then it can soften the initial layer of resin and the fibres will let go and 'float' again.

Then when you vacuum bag, you need to really push the corners into place. Don't pull the bag down to full vacuum straight away, rather just pull it down enough that the bag sits against the mould but is still quite loose. Now you can slide it around and position things a bit easier. If you have an area that doesn't want to stay in position then hold it firmly in place while you pull full vacuum. You may have to pull vacuum and then release it a few times if things don't want to sit in their positions properly.

As Scott said, cutting the fabric into smaller pieces with the aid of some small templates, will make the job of getting it into the mould recesses much easier. A mist of good spray tack and a roller cutter might also help you get some nice sharp cuts to the right size.

It should also help you get a good uniform weave finish on the final part with a bit of thought, as trying to lay a single piece will likely result in quite a lot of distortion.

That's a really difficult shape for doing what you are trying.

Probably best done with infusion or pre pregs rather than "wet bagging".
