I bought a resin infusion kit last year and had a go at making a flat panel which came out reasonably well, but didn't have a perfect surface finish as I had a slight vacuum leak and it ended up a bit 'resin light' with some imperfections aligned with the fibres.

I have been away with work a lot so not done much since then but made another flat panel last week. This time with a soric core. The surface finish on this is much better but it is possible to see some cloudy streaks in the finish. How is the best way to minimise these in the future?

My thoughts were; it could be due to using the easylease which I used last year as I believe it goes off with time when opened or perhaps I didn't buff out the easylease enough when applying layers. Incidentally. It didn't feel like the panel released as easily as previously, which may add weight to the first point.

What's the best approach to minimise this cloudiness? Try some new easylease?

Thanks.
Oli

The solvents in the Easylease can dissolve the oil on your hands and then deposit it on the tool surface.

There's a few things that can do it though. Oil on your hands, too much Easylease, and only using one application cloth for all the coats. You should always wear gloves, only use a small amount of release agent (if it doesn't evaporate within a couple of seconds of wiping it on, then it's too heavy), and always use a new cloth between coats.

I think I broke most of those rules other than not over applying it.

I'd been using 2 microfibres cloths; 1 to apply and 1 to buff. What would you recommend using instead?
