Hi everyone,

I'm searching how I can include a logo, a letter or even a word on an infusion part.
I'm making a part for my Caterham 7 and I want to have the 7 logo on top of it with the same fabric but with a 45°angle.

I try to cut the fabric but it is not accurate.
I also try to put adhesive spray before cutting it; it's more accurate but it's not really easy and the result is not perfect.
Finally I try to do it with a dry fabric. Easy to cut but I didn't get a good result.

Do you have any advise?

Edit : here is a result of a try with adhesive spray :

Get some glass fleece (i use 30gsm) and use some spray tack to fix it to the base fabric. This way you can have precise cutouts without fraying. After the infusion the glass will be perfectly transparent.

Cheers, Lester

Hair spray can sometimes work as a cheap stabiliser- or spray tack allowed to go dry and non-sticky.

If you are using it in your lay up, then the Pro Finish version of our cloths are ideal for things like this as they will cut with a crisp edge and hold their shape fairly well.

Hi Lester and Warren,

I'm trying with a glass fleece. The cut is good. This afternoon, I infuse it and tomorrow, I'll put it into the oven. See it Wednesday.

For a very simple cut as the 7 logo, the glass fleece is enough but for a logo or for a text, how can I handle it like Bruce in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoHH2grML8U
I don't understand how he did it.

Warren, it could be a good option but I'm pretty sure it is possible without it but I will try.

From memory I believe Bruce does it with cured material. He infuses a single layer of the reinforcement he is using, and then cuts it out using a very sharp blade.

I do remember him saying it was a bit of a joke for him to make it look so easy in the video - it actually took him a very long time with a lot of effort. It's a gorgeous result though, true craftsmanship.
