Hello guys , Had my 1st try with MTI hose today , couldn't get the bag to vac down . Pulled everything apart and connected the MTI hose directly to the vac hose and pulled 100% vac ??   What am I doing wrong ? MTI hose didn't seem to let air through ??    Tried the traditional way with spiral and resin break and infusion seemed to go well . I will pop it tomorrow to see what the surface looks like .

Are you sure you set it up correctly?  Sealed one end with gum tape?  Sure you had a good seal on the bag?  I noticed with the MTI hose, it takes a few seconds longer for the vacuum to be pulled through.

Thanks for the reply bud , yes , had it connected right . But I suspect I had some small leaks in the bag .  I was only using a piece about 7" long and I understand it's designed to be used in longer sections . I just though it would have flowed more air.  I did a test with a short piece connected and sealed straight onto the vac line and could pull nearly 100% when I blocked the end .  I will test again today with a simple bag to ensure its 100% airtight . Maybe the short sections of MTI hose just take some time to remove all the air .

MTI definitely flows less air, it often takes my 5cfm pump a good 5 minutes to pull down a small 30x30cm bag whereas without it that same size bag would be pulled down almost straight away.

Clamp your vacuum line, pull the bag down through your resin feed line and clamp, acieve full vacuum through the vacuum line and test.

Thanks for the replies guys , I will try to evac the air that way with the MTI hose.

I popped the piece i did with the spiral and surprisingly it worked out great. I made a few mistakes during the infusion though. I ran out of resin halfway through the infusion

so i blocked the feed side and mixed some more resin which i did not degas . I was concearned it would be riddled with pin holes because of not degassing and stopping the infusion.

I did confirm 100% seal.

temperature of mould 25 c

2'   resin break

300gr twill CF

Innegra

300gr plain CF

Yeh more often than not you will get away with that. I for one never degass. I don't like to stop the infusion before it is finished, but I have on occasion without too much issue.

Really as long as you have a 100% seal, you will be amazed with what mistakes you can get away with.
