You need to keep the temperature above 15 celcius. Ideally 20 degrees or more.

I usually do Warren but have been doing a lot of overtime so havnt heated the work shop

It doesnt help when you mix resin with resin as hardener Crazy

Hi,

I think at the temp your at and if your on the slow hardener 48 hours without a cure is VERY normal...

In my shop its about 18c and the tool is a glass sheet, so its about 15c and if I use the slow hardener it takes about 50 hours to be just hard enough to pull, but if you want the face of the part to "hold up" and to retain its full gloss with very little drop back then I reckon you would be looking at about 4 to 5 days before you take it out at the temp I have mentioned.

The best thing you could do in your situation is try to heat the tool, an electric blanket would work. Or you could be brave and move up to a medium or even a medium-fast hardener, remember your cold environment gives you the advantage of a longer pot life. I have done 1sqm/1mm carbon sheets with the medium hardener at my temp and still had loads of time to spare, resin wasn't even warm yet!

I can give you a rough guide that I use, this is for a premium finish that maintains its full body and and is fully cured!

Slow hardener @ 15c = 100 hours

Medium hardener @ 15c = 60 hours

Fast hardener @ 15c = 40 hours

I would also say that for every 5c that the temp of the tool goes up you could reduce the cure time by 10 hours... Also thicker laminates will cure a bit faster, the numbers I have given are for a 1mm or 2mm part/sheet.

Hope this helps.

Kev.

I have a question for all the teck guys on here,

I just infused a mold for one of the doors on my car,

Its now been 48 hrs since infusion and the resin is taking and age to go off,

Now i know how important it is to mix the resin correctly as Matt explained to me its imperative to get the ratio

perfect and to mix it thoroughly.

The only thing is my workshop is at 10 deg and has been for the last few days as i havnt been there ,

Any idea how long its going to take at this temp for it to go off ????
