Hi Guys
I wrapped the instrument binnacle on my little MGF and was very happy with how it looked. Not perfect by any means but everyone who saw it was impressed. Recently however the car has been kept outside more than before and it has started to go Yellow. I used Gurit SP106 and lacquered with Halfords lacquer which is supposed to be UV resistant.
http://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-body-repairs/car-spray-paints/halfords-clear-lacquer-500ml
Is this normal?
Did I use the wrong epoxy?
Did I use the wrong Lacquer?
Since wrapping this part I have got a compressor and spray gun so can use a better lacquer for new parts but not sure what to ask for at the paint shop.
Any advice gratefully accepted.
This is what I did.

Once the part has cured but before you install it, sand it with 600grit wet sand paper to smooth it out. Then spray it with automotive clear. Get a reputable brand like ppg dc3000. Spray a few oats on and then sand and buff to a high shine.

Thanks guys, I will try to find a proper paint supplier in my area. Now I have a compressor I can spray real paints and lacquers instead of the thinned down rubbish that comes in rattle cans. I know my binnacle is stuffed but I want to make sure it doesn't happen again. Not sure If I can get
ppg dc3000 here in Northern Ireland but I'm sure they will have something similar.
Do you think it would have made any difference had used Gurit SP115 instead of 106. On their website it claims to be UV resistant but I bought the 106 because it was cheaper.
This is my local supplier.

Be careful when spraying the clear on your parts. It can be very hazardous to your health. Where proper respirator (not just a dust mask) good ventilation. Also dont do what my friends do right after they paint something. They pull the mask off and stare at what they just painted and breath in the fumes. I guess taking the mask off makes it easier for them to see lol.
I cant help you with the 15 and 106 sorry, to new to this myself to have real advice

Good advice Kidpaint, I have heard a lot of bad things about 2k paint so will try to avoid it if I can.
I haven't got a respirator yet as I have only ever sprayed the odd thing from rattle cans but it is on my list of things to buy before doing any real spraying.
