Thanks for the feedback. I think it may be the picture quality.Smile The inside has had a coat of Epoxy Coating Resin and is pretty smooth.

Looks good!

I did notice however, the course surface on the inside where the air will be flowing. I take it the purpose of this duct is to improve air flow? Then would'nt you be better off having a highly polished surface inside?

Rough surface improves air/fuel mixing inside an engine, we do this on our two strokes on the intake ports. In this case I would make it smooth.

cheers

We had a great day at Mallory, the two bikes had minor problems but we managed to take care of them and complete all test sessions. Back to your intake, i would stick with the cap version as it works aesthetically for me and if it functions well even better,

Hi Chris how did your day spannering go ? The simulation shows a slight increase in air flow with the end cap fitted. But as ever simulation and real life are very rarely the sameSmile Hoping to get the thing fitted to the car this weekend and get it on the Dyno. The car is running an early R1 engine on carbs. Fingers crossed for a hike in horse powerWink Will do some runs with and without the end cap. Next job an air box to replace the bike onew00t

Opinions please! I wasn't happy with the "edge" on the front of the Intake so I decided to make up an End Cap. Now I'm not sure which I prefer.
Sometimes you need other peoples views. So what do you think with or without the end cap?
The odd thing is that simulation shows a slightly better airflow through the duct with the end cap fitted.

Regards Warren

I like it with the end cap but which version would work best?

Hi Fred,
I have a basic cheap Chinese Vinyl Cutter/Plotter which I use to cut out the text. They are then just stuck on and 3/4 coats of 2k Clear sprayed on.
Quite a lot of my parts use graphics. The above method is ok but unless you apply at least 6 coats of clear and do lots of flatting/polishing the graphics are always slightly proud of the surrounding surface. Another method I use is to apply a clear gel coat (epoxy) to the mould first. Once this is dry I then apply the graphics and then continue with my normal Infusion stack. This way the graphics become part of the part giving a nice flat finish. This only works if you use Epoxy resins as polyester resins "attack" some vinyls.

Hope that helps, Warren
