Hi guys,

I’m just getting ready to try my hand at resin infusion to make some automotive panels with carbon fiber. I’m wondering what is the best method for the finished surface? Is it best to add the clear gelcoat like in the easycomposite video or is it best to skip the gelcoat and finish with automotive clearcoat when the part is finished?

 Thank you

i think the best way of all would be gelcoat like the tutorial, and then clearcoat with high solids high quality clearcoat.
perhaps one of the staff here can address the UV light protections of resins. clearcoat has UV protections built into it.
Ultra Violet light is what breaks down paint (older paints, new materials are very UV resistant) and tops of carbon fiber panels.
