Moulding the front end of a lotus 23b. 

Where would be the ideal spilt lines for the mould?

I don't think either of those ideas will work. There are returns front and rear, also the top of the head light recess has an 20mm return

Of course is hard to see all the details in pics.

Where there are return edges if needed these can be a separate bolt on flange which can allow release.
If needed the headlight bucket area could be a separate loose piece held into the moulds with fastenings?

I am sure there is a way, but try to keep the plan clean/simple and easy if possible.
