I wonder  if the XRC could be uses as a gelcoat in a mould as a replacment of the GC50 polyester

Although it would be better than a typical lower viscosity laminating resin, it is still much thinner than a gelcoat so for anything other than relatively flat parts, it would likely run or fisheye.
