Hi there

Looking for some advice, poured my resin one week ago on a grouted bottle top table, apart from a couple of small bubbles, I was fairly happy with for a first attempt at resin.

I went to give the table a wipe down last night and on drying it I noticed that there appears to be a film after cleaning, especially on the outer of the table. I’m fairly sure it was ok before cleaning but I am absolutely sure it wasn’t there a couple days ago.

Do I need to sand down and pour again or will polishing help this, I’m pretty gutted as it looked great. It still looks shiny at a distance but under direct light and up close it’s not great.

I have tried to wipe with just water and it clears until dry.

Any help would be appreciated

Matthew

Was it some kind of cleaning chemicals used or just a damp cloth?  Sometimes the resin can go dull with some concentrated or aggressive cleaning chemicals.  Also the newer the table is, the more vulnerable the surface is to damage.  This includes moisture sensitivity although wiping it after probably rules out moisture in your case.

I would try polishing it with a decent polishing compound first.  Normally when the surface has just dulled, the damage is literally the top fraction of a mm and as such should polish up nicely.  If its a bit worse, you may need a light wet sand then a polish but try a couple of goes with polish first.

I would assume it is amine blush due to improper mixing. Can be polished out...
