Group: Forum Members Posts: 338, Visits: 2K	Yes, you could also use a woven e-glass fabric You wouldn't get quite the same stiffness and strength from it, at a comparable weight, but if strength is needed you could always compromise on weight by adding a bit more of it than you would carbon fabric

For the mold, gel coat and fiberglass would work. As for the piece, if it has to be light and strong, prepreg of infusion, if it's just a cosmetic part, no subjected to any efforts, just wet layup.

It's hard to say, because when you increase the number of layers, you increase the strength AND the weight, so there is this trade-off, and we can't really say the number of layers without knowing...

Way too asymmetrical in my opinion. And if anything you need the heftier skin on the outside. Probably you will even see the white core shining though the weave.

If you want a strong door, I would make in one piece with plenty of fiber overlap where direction changes. I would also used a balanced and symmetric layup. The 3D core will not make those tight...
