Hi,

I have been trying to build some small composite parts using either f.glass and or carbon 2/2 twill or a combination of both.

The basic part is approx. 3" long and has a deep 0.6" cavity about 0.3" wide in the shape of a Doug out canoe.

I have tried to a vaccuum bag setup pulling 20" inches but was getting voids and bridging... Etc.

Having just watched the videos should I try VIP and get a pump that can pull 29-30 inches or continue down my current path which is Making a mould (female/male).  I am getting close to getting it right, but it has taken several goes with a cnc machine.

Next question is do you have a product that can be used like gel coat on small parts to get a good finish, currently using 3/4 fglass as the first layer but still get some pin holes.  Just don't want to go to all the effort to setup a dump gun for a 3" part.

Thanks in advance,

Adrian

You should contact a guy called wyowindworks on the composites central forum, i think he builds these things professionally. Quite switched on for sure.
