In theory the thin mist will have long evaporated off the surface of the resin before it can cause any damage.

Well realistically its only a surface coat, it's not doing anything for the structural integrity of the part. But it can also affect the surface finish, which is why I dont do it. But the idea is that you only apply a very fine mist, just to break the surface tension that is holding the bubbles. If you apply too much, then it can cause issues. But it's the same if you're using a heat gun, you can burn the surface if you're not careful, so theres risks with everything - just takes practice to get good at whatever method youre using.

Just another way of popping air bubbles. Same as going over it with a heat gun.

Isn't it damaging for the structural integrity of the final part ? Sounds sketchy !

I have just watched a vid on YouTube where a man was doing a wet layup. He did the first couple of coats of resin in the usual way but on the last two coats he sprayed them with a light coat of acetone. He said it gave a better final finish. Anybody know anything about this?
