Can Melamine sheet be used as a mould for GlassCast Epoxy resin? If so, do you need to use a release agent as well?

We use melamine boards as flanges when making prepreg tooling. Ive used both wax and chemical release on it.

I have used melamine covered tabletops to lay up flat carbon sheet, both wet lay vacuum and prepreg. However, I do use a release agent.

Thanks for the reply, I am new to glass casting. Just to be clear my question re using melamine sheet was specific to epoxy resin. I am considering using melamine covered MDF to use as a 'flat' mould...

This prepreg is laid on to a melamine white board (the type used in presentations) with 6 applications of release agent. Not tried it without release agent, just not worth the risk of it sticking....

Hi Haggis50, Yes, you can use Melamine board as a tool surface but as per your assumption, will require a release agent to prevent the resin from bonding to the surface of the board itself. For a...
