Hi,
Currently I use 5.5mm non-structual interior grade hardwood plywood (from Wickes) for my wheelchair seat pan, it spans a distance of 350mm. On top of this I place my foam/memory foam cushion. The plywood gives me the right degree of rigidity/flexibility but adds more weight to my ultra-lightweight wheelchair than I would like. I would like to replace the plywood seat pan with carbon fibre or CF sandwich but don't know what type and thickness would give me a similar feel to 5.5mm plywood? I know some top-end wheelchair manufacturers give the option of carbon seat pans but I they're very rigid with little flex, especially for someone of my low weight. It doesn't have to one complete seat pan front to back, it can be slats.
NB: I weigh 53kg

Thankyou for both replies both are appreciated. Initially I might try the carbon sandwich as it's the simpler option. I could buy a sheet the same dimensions as my current plywood seat pan and if after trying it I feel it's too stiff then I could always try cutting it into say 2" or 3" slats and space them out to give the desired stiffness/flexibility.
There's also the option of cutting slots into the sheet similar to the attached image?
The other image looks to be a CF wheelchair complete with CF solid seat pan. I imagine the chair is mega expensive. I don't know whether the seat pan is solid CF or a CF sandwich, it's looks to be about 5mm or 6mm?

A fine jigsaw blade will cut the foam core panel very easily.
