I think the biggest tip I can give you initially, is to take your time and think about how the mould will work. Always look at the part you are making and think if I make a mould will it come off in one-piece or will it need to be made in multiple parts.
Car parts like bonnets and roofs are large panels and you will need to ensure the moulds are reinforced as they will move and warp when cured, which directly translates to your parts.

Welcome to the forums all I can say is watch as many videos as possible and don't be afraid to ask questions.

If you're making moulds and parts in your garage one thing I find very handy is a nice big table to work on preferably heated and or a heated blanket to wrap stuff up or cover with for when your workshop is too cold, I got mine from Argos though I could do with a new one now as it's looking a bit rough!

Anyway having fun is the main thing
