Hi, my name's Olly,

I am new to the composites world, I have watched the easy composites video on how to make a car bonnet and thought that I would like to have a go!

I have purchased everything necessary to make moulds of parts but I would be interested to know how people go about making theirs? Has anyone got any time-saving or general tips before I get started? What should I start with? I am intending to make boot, doors, bonnet, wings, roof and rear window blanks.

I was thinking making the rear window blanks would be the easiest to start on, does anyone have any advice or tips that may help me on my first mould?

I am very grateful for any tips or sending me any links to previous threads that may help me get started.

Cheers.

Hi Olly,

Over the last couple of years I've made a complete buck and then carbon fibre panels for my race car. This is what it looks like now.

There's lots of stuff on my blog about all this. If you go to this post you'll be dumped into the middle of the buck manufacturing stage. If you've got any specific questions, just shout!

Cheers,

Tim
