Hi all

I am new to mould making at home and to this site

I have a Uni-Mould kit from Easy Composites and have made a pattern for a kit car scoop using my original scoop from the car see picture attached

I would really like any tips / advice you may have on how to prep / release the pattern before making the mould

I have read instructions sheets and watch videos BUT would welcome any contributions as you cannot beat the experience of other people that have started out the same way

For example I have a block of filleting wax to use where there might be some under cuts but do i put this on before or after releasing the pattern

Thanks in advance for any helping a newbie

Regards
Ian

Hi ian
I would try and extend the bonnet scoop pattern edges. Its always better to make the pattern and mould slightly larger than your part edge so you can trim back to it.
Have a look at what davro done with his one, using some fillet wax and fluted board extend all around bybat least an inch. Once you have done that you can either release it with chemical release agent or a good few coats of wax Mirror glaze is good for this purpose.
