Hi Paul
I am not sure about the strength of it in F/G... I know mine is more than strong enough and a lot stiffer than the FIA seats I have in the garage including a C/F one!
I did seriously consider making CF wheels, but I think I would have to seriously over engineer them to ensure they are strong enough as I don't have the means to properly test them and thus I don't think I would save weight.

Hey Andy, this is a fantastic looking seat! I am in the process of making my own seat as well, just in fiberglass. I was thinking about using a layup similar to yours - 200, 2x650, core, 2x650, 200. Would you need to add more reinforcement using fiberglass only?

IF you do want to go the CF wheels route speak to Steve Thomas at C12 Composites (
http://www.c12cfd.co.uk/index.htm
) he designed and set up the manufacturing process for the original Dymag CF wheels

well .... the BST wheels i would like for my MVAgusta F4 are just under £2000,- for a set ... Only £180,- less than the forged Marchesinis already on the Bike ..
I would save almost 3 kg's unsprung mass though ...
What is the price for a set of CF wheels ... How much equipment for building your own + a couple for destructive testing could you buy with that sort of money ?
Probably not ALL the equipment you would need ...

Here is a couple of pics of the finished seat (still needs Laquer) upholstered in leather by me, no stitching required due to the way I designed it, leather and foam stuck direct to the carbon.

My car is on display at autosport till Sunday so I had a look at the tillet ones today, mine are actually more ridgid, they difficult to flex and MUCH more rigid than the FIA cobra one I have in the passenger seat.
Mine is a 2 part seat

Tht looks great. How's the rigidity? I've seen a few aftermarket seats (lotus based) and they always feel a little flimsy to me. The only commercial ones I've seen that were rigid enough were double skinned Tillets.
