I use fumed silica and calcium carbonate generally. Will try graphite powder as well and was thinking about getting some ground carbon fibre.
I only mix by hand, haven't tried machine mixing.

Just use the alcohol-type wood stain/dye powder... it works really well, and just a little will make the resin with filler a solid black.
