I'm not too sure how familiar you guys are with this but thought I'd ask whether anyone has attempted with that technique. As far as I know, this is done with chopped carbon fiber strands under high pressure. At least that's how Audemars Piguet does it with their watches. Recently, Lamborghini started using this method as well for their Sesto Elemento concept cars.  Does anybody have a clue whether this can be done in a home-based environment or you need hi-tech machinery?

Here are some pictures of the products

Actually, in the last picture I posted, you can see that rolled up thing? That's actually what they put inside the mold and press it with a 1 tonne press...

I was thinking, what if you get chopped carbon fibre, spread it around a mold evenly and do the regular resin infusion. Would that work? or maybe even easier, mix up the chopped carbon fiber with the resin until you get a consistent fluid, sip it in the mold and vacuum it

I've heard of it before and seen a video online but it has been removed last time I checked...
They used a steel or aluminium mould (2parts) but some chopped CF in it (I think it was prepreg)
filled the cavity with it, put on the second part on top and pressed it toghetter by bolting everything tight and then put it into an oven...
Didn't look that hightech...
