Foam core with kevlar patches to help reduce rip through of the fixings should be plenty for that kind of application.

The truck might be powerful but I doubt it has massive high speed due to being an aerodynamic brick (compared to a sportscar). As long as it is reasonably stiff and properly mounted to the body then it should stay nicely in place and transfer the downforce to the frame without excessive flex.

Thanks! I was leaning towards a core. Also thinking about strips of Kevlar (sandwiched between the carbon) where the hardware will be attached. His truck has around 750 bhp so I’m going to assume it will see some decent downforce along the way.

In the pictures I can see it just looks like a flat sheet of aluminium with a gurney flap on the rear and end plates riveted on.  

Cored material is the way to go.  Keeps the weight down. 

You could use and off the shelf cored panel if you wanted, but judging from the pictures its only 1 or 2mm aluminium so an off the shelf carbon sheet would do it. Use some angle to create the gurney flap and some offcuts to make the endplates.

A friend of mine wants me to build the wing in this photo for his F100.

Would you make this as a single flat sheet with a cosmetic layer followed by several layers of heavy cloth, or, 2 layers of Carbon, PVC core, and 2 layers of carbon? Hardware is on him to figure out. Just talking the layup.

Deadline is August for a 250 mile rally run up a highway.
