This will be where I'll document the progress slowly but steadily replacing parts on my Rossion Q1 in the never ending quest to add lightness. The car currently makes about 600hp at full boost, weighs about 2400lbs. I have/had zero experience starting this project so prepare for less than flawless parts early on... already made several dumpster parts. Successfully made some under-hood covers for the backs of the headlight pods.. trying to make replacement headlight pods now but its a pretty complex shape. I'll upload some more pics soon

Here is the car.

Wow. Now I feel like a dope for thinking the headlight buckets might be too challenging for my first part lol.

What issues (if any) did you come across? I have only attempted resin infusion on a small flat test piece.

Biggest issue is getting a good seal on  the back... for the rear clam I tried 3 times taking 6hrs each time and gave up and pulled the final one regardless even though it wasnt full vacume let alone a total seal.

For me the biggest tip i can give you is DONT use a gel coat, assume you will have pin holes and will need to lacquer it to get rid of them... this has prevented me having scrap parts as I can recover a disaster parts with time spend sanding and polishing Smile

My other bit of advice is to pay significant attention to the first layer of carbon, make sure there are absolutely no bridges and the weave is nice. If you think it isnt perfect or you have a bridge start again else you could end up with all your work a complete waste of time and materials wasted.

I made myself a new design of dash last weekend, V weave wasnt perfect, but sometimes the odd flaw shows its genuine Smile
