Hello,

I need to make a cf bonnet, but only one piece(the outside one). The inside part (reinforcement) is not to be made.

What is your opinion about the layers to be used?

1 - 2 cf layer 200grs - soric 2mm - 2 cf layer 200grs

2 - 2 cf layer 200grs - soric 2mm - 1 cf layer 650grs

Or another one different?

Thanks,

Pedro

depends on what you want.

if you want super light weight and its secured by 4 bonnet pins, then a layer of 200gsm (or maybe slightly heavier) CF cloth either side of soric with edges built flush with tape (like in EC's video) would be strong enough for a motorsport componant and very light. Youd need kevlar patches where the pins are going through just to add a bit of strength in those areas.

It would of course be fairly flexible but if its a curved bonnet should hold its shape ok.  For motorsport would probably be fine as it wouldnt have a long life span in most race series anyway and in motorsport, cosmetics is irrelevant.
