Hi, my name's Olly,

I am new to the composites world, I have watched the easy composites video on how to make a car bonnet and thought that I would like to have a go!

I have purchased everything necessary to make moulds of parts but I would be interested to know how people go about making theirs? Has anyone got any time-saving or general tips before I get started? What should I start with? I am intending to make boot, doors, bonnet, wings, roof and rear window blanks.

I was thinking making the rear window blanks would be the easiest to start on, does anyone have any advice or tips that may help me on my first mould?

I am very grateful for any tips or sending me any links to previous threads that may help me get started.

Cheers.

Hi Olly,

Welcome to the forums all I can say is watch as many videos as possible and don't be afraid to ask questions.

If you're making moulds and parts in your garage one thing I find very handy is a nice big table to work on preferably heated and or a heated blanket to wrap stuff up or cover with for when your workshop is too cold, I got mine from Argos though I could do with a new one now as it's looking a bit rough!

Anyway having fun is the main thing Smile

Hi davro

Thanks for the tip on the blanket just ordered one off amazon and iv recently built a nice big work bench, so think I'm about set to start having a go.

I've been watching fair few of your videos, mainly ones of how you build the part up ready to make the mould. I'll defiantly be asking questions if I'm not sure of things, feel free to point out things that I'm not doing right lol
