Good morning

I am making am mould for a bonnet scoop with the intentions at this stage to wet lay up only with our bagging or vacuum and wonder if :-

Can I wet lay up one ply of 200gsm 2x2 twill carbon only and let that cure off to aid getting a good finish (Prevent bridging and dry spots) and then lay up further plies for strength afterwards.

I will be using Easy Composites EL2 Epoxy Laminating Resin with fast and slow hardeners

You can. But why would you want to? Multiple layers don't contribute to surface finish.

Thanks for the reply, I was of thinking of do one ply only and letting it cure first

as I am concerned that it will be difficult to get the profile/shape at the front of the scoop mould good enough with all the multiple plies(4-5) with our it pulling away from the mould and causing bridging dry spots as I don't have any vacuum kit

On my clear carbon finished parts I do a single ply first let it cure until it will not get disturb by subsequent plies , mainly it helps eliminating pinholes and bubbles,
